$1.25 million for palliative care research in Ottawa

As part of a Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) funding package, a team of Ottawa researchers will receive $1.25 million for a project focussing on palliative care training.

The project's principal investigator is Dr. Pierre Allard, who heads the Palliative Care Research Group at the SCO Health Service's Élisabeth-Bruyère Research Institute and the Division of Palliative Care at the University of Ottawa. His research team will include experts in medicine, epidemiology, nursing and psychology.

The Élisabeth Bruyère Research Institute was created in 2003 to foster research on quality of life of the elderly and efficient use of resources in the continuing care sector.
