A taste of medical school

Thanks to a fun and exciting initiative by the Faculty of Medicine and its Office of Continuing Medical Education, curious minds will get a chance to find out what it's like to become a doctor by attending Ottawa's first Mini-Medical School. Although the initiative is new to the area, this type of public outreach program is already being offered throughout North America, and has proven to be overwhelmingly popular.

The program, which runs from October 21 to November 25, offers a series of lectures entitled “How the body works... and doesn't” to give the general population the opportunity to learn more about medicine and health-care issues.

After the last lecture, participants are even awarded a special diploma at their “graduation ceremony.”
