Three University of Ottawa economists who prepared a report on prepared for Statistics Canada recently received a rave review in the international publication The Economist.
“Literacy scores, human capital and growth across 14 OECD countries”, prepared by Serge Coulombe, Jean-François Tremblay and Sylvie Marchand, was the subject of the “Economics Focus” feature in the August 26 issue of The Economist. The review of the publication called the report "a breakthrough", and said, “the fact that it finds such a strong correlation between skills and growth gives a significant boost to human-capital theory, and to the view that investing in skills brings long-term economic rewards.”
The Economist claims a readership of over three million, and has paid circulation of over 940,000.
