CEOs go global with uOttawa boot camp

The School of Management has a novel approach to meet the demand of local business executives who want to gain a foothold into the global market.

Developed and delivered by industry leaders and uOttawa's EMBA faculty members, the CEO Boot Camp offers a tightly coordinated program that focuses on the key factors for business growth, including building a winning team, protection of intellectual property, market research and competitive analysis, strategic alliances, Canadian and foreign legal and taxation issues, and winning exit strategies.

The first four-day CEO Boot Camp will take place in spring 2005.

The program is offered in conjunction with Ottawa-based business consultancy firm OrbitIQ. When designing this program, the School of Management also relied on the experience of several Ottawa executives.

There is a strong demand from the local business community for such an undertaking, says Micheál Kelly, dean of the School of Management.

Eli Fathi, chief executive officer of OrbitIQ says: “We needed to create a peer-to-peer learning situation where executives can benefit from the experiences of other leaders in the Ottawa business community.”
