Mime Patti Lockhart was one of the street entertainers hired by the Community Life Service to provide animation on campus during 101 Week. A number of activities, including concerts, sports events, a tailgate party, and barbecues, were offered to welcome new or returning students at the beginning of September.
The University did not spare any effort as well to ensure that its 108 new professors received an enthusiastic welcome. The Centre for University Teaching had a whole program for them during the last two weeks of August.
