The co-operative education programs have been accredited by the Canadian Association for Co-operative Education (CAFCE) for a six-year period ending in 2010.
CAFCE accreditation represents the highest standard of programming in co-operative education. Specifically, accredited institutions have met the following criteria:
- Each work placement offers a productive learning situation.
- The co-op student performs productive work and doesn't simply observe.
- The student is paid for the work performed.
- The student's progress on the job is monitored by the institution and on-the-job performance is closely supervised and evaluated in detail by the employer.
- The time spent in placements equals at least 30 percent of the time spent in class.
