New manager of ceremonies named

Julie CafleyJulie Cafley is the new manager of ceremonies and events within the University Relations sector. She officially took up her new position on April 1.

Cafley brings extensive experience at the University of Ottawa to the job, as well as expertise in the area of special event management.  She most recently worked as liaison manager in Strategic Enrolment Management. Previously, she was a special projects officer with the Alumni and Development Office and liaison and communications officer with the Faculty of Engineering.

Cafley is also known for her volunteer activities, notably an annual Christmas gift drive for needy children, which she co-ordinates on campus every year.

With the assistance of her colleagues from University Relations, Cafley will be building a new unit responsible for managing official ceremonies and events such as Convocation, the Award for Excellence in Research, and the Award for Excellence in Teaching.  She will also manage other important events such as the Distinguished Canadian Leadership Awards Dinner, which are designed to raise the profile of the University and to build relationships with external partners.
