OHRI head underscores achievement

Dr. Ronald Worton, CEO and scientific director, OHRI

It was with great pleasure and some degree of pride that I noted your article (Feb. 10, Medical researchers get works published) on seven University of Ottawa researchers being published in prominent medical journals.

Seven publications in recent issues of the world’s top medical journals is indeed a great achievement. I believe that it is also important to note that all seven featured scientists work at The Ottawa Hospital in the Ottawa Health Research Institute (OHRI), an institute of The Ottawa Hospital and the University of Ottawa.

The OHRI is one of Canada’s leading health research institutes, housing more than 110 talented scientists and more than 135 clinical investigators. With more than $45 million in peer-reviewed grants, scientists at the OHRI are making great strides against some of the most debilitating and deadly diseases currently known.

(Editor’s note: Dr. Worton is also a professor in the Department of Medicine.)
