Dr. Xiaoyi Bao is the first recipient of the University of Ottawa Inventor of the Year Award.
Bao is a professor in the Department of Physics and holds a Canada Research Chair in Fibre Optics and Photonics.
The award was created by the University’s Technology Transfer and Business Enterprise department (TTBE) and sponsored by Deloitte & Touche and Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt.
Dr. Bao was presented with an Inuit carving of an eagle and $5,000 during the TTBE/OCRI Research Day on February 23.
