Area hospitals get key feedback

The Ontario government’s Hospital Report 2003 provided some important feedback for the province’s hospitals, including those affiliated with the University.

It was great news for the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, which received the highest possible score for quality of care from its patients.

The Ottawa Hospital, the region’s largest health-care provider, received a more critical report. In an extensive response, the hospital welcomed the report and suggested that the statistics pointed to long-term funding shortfalls and were at least partially related to the hospital being under the care of a provincially appointed supervisor at the time.

CHEO received average to above-average ratings in most categories while the Queensway-Carleton Hospital rated average for the most part.
