University’s research ranking

The University of Ottawa remains among the top Canadian universities for research funding, in spite of a slight drop in ranking this year.

A report, released by Research Infosource Inc. of Toronto, indicates the University of Ottawa holds tenth place for subsidized research income, and seventh place in research intensity, that is, the amount of research funding per full-time faculty member. Last year, the University ranked ninth and fifth respectively for research income and research intensity.

The change in ranking stems primarily from the fact that the University’s research team has grown faster than any other in terms of new researchers. This number increased by eight per cent between 2006 and 2007.

Investment in new and established research talent is expected to keep the University at the leading edge of research and funding.
