Over 350 science students from universities across Canada were on the University of Ottawa campus from January 7 to 12 to take part in the Canadian University Science Games.

Some 20 teams took part in a series of challenges including a debate, trivia challenge, a picture rally, snow sculpture, and the main event of the games, the cascade.

“The games were a tremendous success,” said Ryan Hartwell, director of promotions for the 2004 Canadian University Games. “Thanks to our participants, volunteers, and corporate sponsors, it was without a doubt the best games in the six years that they have run!”

Next year’s games have been awarded to Université de Montréal, whose delegation was coincidently the winner of the 2004 games. Western University won the main cascade challenge, while the University of Ottawa placed 10th in the event.
