President's Garden Party

  President's Garden Party

At a June garden party, hundreds of members of the University community came to celebrate the accomplishments of outgoing president and vice-chancellor, Gilles Patry, whose seven year mandate came to an end earlier this month.

Canadian artist Bernard Poulin presented to Patry the portrait he created of him. Poulin, known for the elegance of his still-life compositions, also painted the portrait of former University president Marcel Hamelin. Additional subjects include royalty, the clergy, judiciary, corporate and political figures, such as former prime minister Jean Chrétien and internationally renowned Canadian photographer Yousuf Karsh.
