A new research chair in journalism ethics, to be held by Professor Marc-François Bernier, has just been announced. The first research chair awarded in the field of communications, it aims to promote scientific research, theoretical and critical thinking and training in journalism ethics for francophones in Canada, Quebec and abroad.
Bernier holds a doctorate in political science and is a communications and journalism professor at the University of Ottawa. He has published many scientific articles and book chapters on journalism ethics and professional conduct and is frequently called upon as an expert witness in civil defamation cases.
There are now eight chairs Research Chairs in Canadian Francophonie at the University of Ottawa.
