Czech prime minister Mirek Topolánek spoke at the University of Ottawa on February 29. His lecture was entitled “Significant Eights – Fateful Milestones of Our History.” This year marks an important anniversary in the history of Canada and the Czech Republic: the 40th anniversary of the Prague Spring, in 1968, when Canada welcomed thousands of Czechs fleeing their homeland.
