Pierre de Blois awarded the 2007 Prix Grandmaître

Pierre de Blois, a member of the University of Ottawa’s Board of Governors, became the eighth recipient of the Association canadienne-française de l'Ontario’s Prix Grandmaître, at a ceremony held on February 8. The prize is awarded annually to a member of the Franco-Ontarian community who has demonstrated perseverance, dedication and a great sense of commitment to promoting the francophone community in Ottawa.

A senior member of the civil service, de Blois is an alumnus of the University of Ottawa. For more than 30 years, he has been one of the most committed members of Ottawa’s francophone community. Among his many achievements, he chaired Action Sandy Hill’s group for the construction of a perimeter highway; he founded the Franco-Ontarian Festival and was the president from 1985 to 1992; and he has been a member of several boards. Since 2006, Blois has been the co-chair of the Task Force on Programs and Services in French at the University of Ottawa.
