The Fulcrum, uOttawa’s English-language student newspaper, hosted the 70th annual Canadian University Press Conference, from January 17 to 21. The “Word. 2008” event brought together student journalists and students seeking careers in publishing from across Canada to look at topics as varied as investigative reporting, digital rights and scrum training.
With representatives from print, political and television media, speakers included Juliet O’Neill of the Ottawa Citizen, Stephen Brunt of the Globe and Mail, uOttawa professor Michael Geist and Richard Brennan, president of the Ottawa Press Gallery.
