The tradition continues with Homecoming 2007

With dozens of events planned for the third annual Homecoming celebration, you’ll find any number of reasons to be on campus from September 27 to 30.

“We are building on the success of the first two years, making sure there is something for alumni, faculty, staff, students, retirees and families,” says Danielle Bennett, manager of alumni loyalty in the Alumni Relations Office. “We are getting bigger and better every year.”

Never a group to rest on its laurels, Alumni Relations staff members have added some new elements to the celebrations. “Experts on Stage” will feature some of the University’s rising stars, who will present mini-lectures on a number of fascinating topics. Come and hear these exceptional professors and researchers speak about Diagnosing the Health of Structures, Hearing from Infancy to Old Age, Recent Losses of Arctic Ice Shelves: An Indicator of Climate Change and Personal Internet Security.

Have you ever been curious about the night sky? Spend Friday evening under the stars on the lawn of Tabaret Hall with experts from the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, who will share their telescopes and their knowledge.

A touch of yesteryear awaits families coming to the Magic Lantern Show on Sunday, September 30 at 12:30 p.m. Professor Lindsay Lambert will use a Victorian era magic lantern in her entertaining show filled with political and social commentary, historical facts, and occasional song.
With the FIFA 2007 Women’s World Cup currently on the go, come out and cheer for the uOttawa Gee-Gees women’s soccer team as it takes on the Ryerson Rams in a Homecoming battle on Sunday, September 30, at 1:00 p.m.

Homecoming 2007 continues in the tradition of previous years with the participation of the Staff Chapter of the Alumni Association, who will offer a barbeque lunch on Friday, September 28. Of course, don’t miss the big band sounds of the STEVENS & KENNEDY Band, making its second appearance at Homecoming on Friday, September 28, at 7:00 p.m.
