An enthusiastic, supportive and committed uOttawa community responded generously to the Putting Students First: 48 hours that count campus campaign.

This fundraising effort took place from May 28 to 29, with a goal of raising $200,000 in 48 hours. The blitz raised $203,659. With a matching donation from the University, the campaign reached an astounding $407,318.

This success is the direct result of the outstanding generosity of our university community; a community with a long history of giving that has come through once again,” said President Gilles Patry. “This is a wonderful continuation of uOttawa’s major capital campaign that now tops $226 million.”

From the amount raised, there is little doubt that staff respond to students’ needs. They recognize that students need a clean, safe and properly maintained environment to prosper. Students need to feel welcomed and supported to succeed. And often times those needs extend to financial support.

We cannot begin to say how impressed we are by our university community … of how proud we are of their sense of priority and how delighted we are for our students,” said Putting Students First co-chairs Jenepher Lennox Terrion and Gaby St-Pierre.

Thanks to all donors, sponsors and the numerous champions in the various faculties and services who promoted the campaign. All funds raised will contribute to the success of the University’s most important stakeholders, the students.
