Daniel Brunette, Manager, Annual Campaign
What is your most important function at the University and why?
My most important function is raising funds from alumni, professors, support staff, retirees and friends of the University of Ottawa.
What is it about your job that inspires you most?
Playing a role that allows students to obtain the resources needed for their university experience to be really special.
What would your co-workers be most surprised to know about you?
I love a good haggis.
What is your favourite pastime?
Cultural discoveries through books, travel, and events.
You’ve just won a $1 million. What do you do?
Ten per cent immediately in an investment endowment fund to establish a small foundation. Then some investments, a little extravagance, some renovations, some travel and a good bottle of wine.
What is the quality you value the most?
Patience, because without it, nobody would take the time to listen, to understand, to respect, to wait or to do a job properly.
Which five people (living or dead) would you like to invite to a dinner party?
Charles Darwin, Mahatma Ghandi, Nelson Mandela, Aristotle for their ideas and Joseph Antoine Brunet, AKA Belhumeur de la Rochelle, because he was the first of my ancestors to leave France 13 generations ago.
What is the best kept secret in your faculty, department or service?
For those who wish to do so, it is very simple to make a contribution and the cumulative impact is huge.
