Drums of my Flesh, a novel by Cyril Dabydeen, sessional professor in the English department, has been long-listed for the prestigious 2007 International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award. It is the largest prize of its kind, involving nominations from libraries from all parts of the globe.
This fourth novel by Dabydeen is partly set in Sandy Hill. It sees Gabe, an immigrant from Guyana, explore the past in the company of his young Canadian-born daughter. Drums of my Flesh was also a 2006 finalist in the City of Ottawa Book Awards.
The short list will be announced in April and the winner in June.
