Students organize National Day of Action

Students from coast to coast will rally on February 7 in support of accessible high-quality post-secondary education.

The Student Federation of the University of Ottawa submitted a motion to the Senate requesting that students not be penalized for participation in the Day of Action. Further to discussion, the Senate approved an academic amnesty at their meeting on November 6, 2006, with a recommendation to professors that exams, or other graded exercises, not take place on February 7. This would allow students to miss their classes between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., without penalty. If a daytime exam takes place on February 7, students may request a deferred exam.
