Medicine holds awards of excellence ceremony

Family, friends and colleagues joined Dean Peter Walker on December 3 for the Faulty of Medicine Awards of Excellence ceremony.Pascal Laliberté, a member of the awards nominating committee commented: “Choosing these award winners is not an easy task as this year’s nominees were excellent. Every nominee has made exceptional contributions to the Faculty and for our students. We are very proud to have them on the team.”

Awards of Excellence were given to support staff members Diane Dinelle, Bonnie Landon and Martin Marion, and to professors Leo Renaud, Marie-France Tourigny-Rivard, and Gordon Wallace.

Dr. Shawn Aaron received the 2003 Young Professor Award and Dr. George Wells received the 2003 Mentoring Award.

Dr. Vladimir Sistek and Dr. Susan Tolnai, both professors emeritus in the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, won the Faculty Architect Award.

The Aesculapian Society chose Dr. Robert Bell to receive the Bristol-Myers Squibb Award for Excellence in Medical Teaching (English program) and Dr. John Leddy (Francophone program). This is the second consecutive year that Dr. Leddy has been chosen for this award.
