An over-the-top campaign

The University of Ottawa 2006 United Way Campaign surpassed its $365,000 goal, raising $381,906 or 105.5 per cent of its objective. This is the highest amount ever raised for United Way on campus. The campaign raised nearly $33,000 for the newly created University of Ottawa student aid bursary fund.

More than 55 per cent of employees contributed to the campaign. In addition, our always generous retirees contributed some $44,000 or 11 per cent of the campaign total. A record-breaking 101 leaders, individuals who donated $1,000 or more to United Way, also ensured we went over the top in this year’s campaign.

As the 2006 campaign co-chairs, we extend heartfelt thanks to President Gilles Patry whose energy and commitment to the campaign knows no bounds. We also acknowledge the many deans and directors who lent their personal support to the campaign in their own departments and services.

We thank our sponsors who provided food, gifts, or services that were essential to the success of our campaign events.

This year’s success could not have happened without the countless hours freely given by more than 145 volunteers, who worked tirelessly to help realize the campaign target. Their efforts and, of course, the generous contribution of all donors continue to make the University of Ottawa one of the most generous educational institution donors in the country.

Thank you. You are our Everyday Heroes!
