Dean of the Faculty of Science appointed

An extensively published professor and researcher in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics has been named dean of the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Science. André Robert Dabrowski, who also served as interim dean from July 2003 to January 2004, replaces Christian Detellier whose mandate ends in June 2006.

Professor Dabrowski is an alumnus of the University of Ottawa receiving a bachelor’s and a master’s in science in the 1970s. He also holds an MS and PhD from the University of Illinois (Urbana). He has taught at the University since 1990 and was the director of the Ottawa-Carleton Institute of Mathematics and Statistics from 1993 to 1995. From 2001 to 2005, he held the position of Vice-Dean, Research in the Faculty of Science. In 2005, Prof. Dabrowski was accredited as a professional statistician by the Statistical Society of Canada.
