Nifty ideas bring rewards

Two University employees were recently awarded prizes by the Suggestion Award Program committee because they came up with ideas on how to improve procedures at the University.

Joëlle Clément, manager of accounting in Financial Services, received a $1,515 bonus for suggesting that water savers be installed on all washroom taps on campus. The measure is expected to save the University over $15,000 a year in water consumption and to reduce CO2 emissions.

Todd Nobert, an engineer with the Physical Resources Service proposed that the University build its own filtration system for chill water on campus—a suggestion that resulted in a $8,300 saving for the University. Nobert’s suggestion earned him a $720 bonus.
