Mark your calendars on Friday, March 24, 2006 for the “Walk for Sean” fundraiser that will support the new “Sean Egan Memorial Scholarship” for students in human kinetics.

The event, which is a joint initiative of the Human Kinetics Students' Association and the Faculty of Health Sciences, is taking place a month before the one-year anniversary of Egan's tragic death while attempting to be the oldest Canadian to summit Mount Everest.

Walkers will collect pledges and then walk a 3.5 km route along the Rideau Canal. The walk will start at Ottawa City Hall at noon and end at Montpetit Hall, where a ceremony will take place in the gym at 1:30 p.m.

Walkers will be treated to refreshments, light snacks and a video of Egan's adventures on Everest, and will hear firsthand how much was raised for the scholarship.  Also, great prizes will be awarded to the top three fundraisers.

To pre-register, send an email to walkforsean@gmail.com.
