Deputy minister for research appointed

Alastair Glass became the Ontario deputy minister of research and innovation, effective February 13, 2006.

Glass was chairman of the Tyndall National Institute in Cork, Ireland and the first director of information and communication sciences at Science Foundation Ireland, where he played a pivotal role in growing research and development programs and building partnerships between industry, government and academia.

He has a PhD in physics from the University of British Columbia.
