Rebecca Margolis
Rebecca Margolis is an assistant professor in Canadian Studies, and the Departments of Modern Languages and Literatures, and Religious Studies. She is one of three professors in the new Vered Jewish Canadian Studies Program. Her research and teaching interests centre on Jewish culture in Canada broadly defined, including religious culture, literature and the arts, and ideological and political culture. Her focus is on Yiddish language, literature, and culture. Professor Margolis studied Yiddish in high school in Montreal, and subsequently at McGill University. She holds an M.A.-Ph.D. in Yiddish Studies from Columbia University, where she was active in Yiddish cultural circles. She has published numerous studies on Jewish Canadian Studies and Yiddish Studies.
