Eda Kranakis

Eda Kranakis is an Associate Professor at the University of Ottawa specializing in the history of technology and the history of European integration. She has taught at Yale University, Université de Paris, University of Amsterdam and at Harvard University as the Landon Clay Professor of the History of Science. She has published a comparative study of French and American engineering cultures in the nineteenth century, Constructing a Bridge: An Exploration of Engineering Culture, Design, and Research in Nineteenth-Century France and America (MIT Press, 1997). She has also published an article on the 1907 collapse of the Quebec Bridge (in Technology and Culture, July 2005). Her current work looks at the development of industrial policy in the European Union, including the development of the European patent system.
