Susan Rupp

Susan Rupp

Susan Rupp comes from a family of musicians. She studied piano with her mother and Dr. Gladys Egbert and later studied violin with Mary Shortt, Dr. Lise B. Elson, Gwen Thompson, and Mauricio Fuks. Summer studies include Meadowmount School of Music, National Youth Orchestra, Aspen Music Festival, chamber music with the Orford String Quartet, and master classes in Europe. Post-secondary degrees are B.Mus. (Performance), University of Calgary, 1975; M.Mus. (Performance) McGill University, 1981; and B.Ed., summa cum laude, University of Ottawa, 2001.
Prior to joining the National Arts Centre Orchestra in 1984, Susan was a member of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and the Edmonton Chamber Players. While studying at McGill she was a regular extra player in the Montreal Symphony.
Susan is currently teaching violin for the OrKidstra Youth Music Program for inner city elementary students in Ottawa. She has also taught for Alberta College in Edmonton and the Vancouver Academy of Music. Susan is a member of the American Federation of Musicians and the Ontario College of Teachers.
