Description:
Library and Archives Canada is an innovative knowledge institution that combines the collections, services and staff expertise of the former National Library of Canada and National Archives of Canada. Our objective is to provide all Canadians with easy, one-stop access to the texts, photographs and other documents that reflect their cultural, social and political development. Working closely with other archives and libraries, we will continue to acquire and preserve Canada's documentary heritage in all its forms. Our mandate is: * To preserve the documentary heritage of Canada for the benefit of present and future generations; * To be a source of enduring knowledge accessible to all, contributing to the cultural, social and economic advancement of Canada; * To facilitate in Canada cooperation among communities involved in the acquisition, preservation and diffusion of knowledge; and * To serve as the continuing memory of the government of Canada and its institutions.
