Students – Community Partners Details

COMMUNITY PARTNER INFORMATION:
Organization:
uOttawa Faculty of Education - Developing A Global Perspective For Educators
Description:
Developing A Global Perspective For Educators/Dveloppement dune perspective globale pour enseignants et enseignantes is funded through the Global Classroom Initiative/L'initiative le monde en classe by Canadian International Development Agency/Agence canadienne de developpement international. The Faculty of Education at the University of Ottawa seeks to build on its partnerships with local schools, community leaders, and NGOs. Our teacher education program aims to encourage the development of critically reflective professionals who personify an ethic of caring, knowledge and commitment to issues of diversity and equity through education. The Kitigan Zibi School Science Project was developed by the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Education in collaboration with the Kitigan Zibi School Board. The project seeks to foster a collaborative community service learning partnership involving University of Ottawa students and the Kitigan Zibi School Board, teachers, and students. Moreover, the project affords the university an opportunity to share its resources with a local indigenous community and to enhance the visibility of our CSL program within local indigenous communities. Furthermore, it will help to foster long term relationships with the Kitigan Zibi Board in order to work on larger projects with them in the future. Finally the theme of the project will examine the concepts of eco-justice, science citizenship, and youth activism from First Nation perspective.
