Students – Community Partners Details

COMMUNITY PARTNER INFORMATION:
Organization:
Ottawa Volunteers in Education (ONFE)
Description:
Caring members of the community, of all ages and cultures, are capable of making an immense contribution to the children in our schools. This awareness and growing opportunities within schools have greatly increased non-parent volunteerism within education. Volunteers in Education provides a matching service to link community volunteers with the needs of individual students and teachers. Currently more than 1400 retirees, seniors, university students, new Canadians and other community members are volunteering over 130,000 hours annually in local schools. You can make the difference in a child's life! A little extra help from tutors once a week could help a student to understand new concepts in language or math. Mentors can boost a child's self-esteem. Sharing your passion for a career or hobby can influence a child's career aspirations. The list goes on...
