Once finished her degree she stayed in Toronto and managed the communications and volunteer program for Sistering – A Woman’s Place, to support Sistering’s services for homeless, low income and marginalized women. While at Sistering, Larissa taught two courses at George Brown College in Toronto in the Non-Profit Management certificate program and edited The Journal of Volunteer Administration out of Virginia, U.S.A. She was President of the Board of Fireweed: A Quarterly Publication of Arts, Politics and Culture and was bureau chief for Filling Station, a magazine based out of Calgary. Larissa moved into publishing, working in marketing, sales and editorial before joining Volunteer Ottawa in 2005 where she is currently the Executive Director. Volunteer Ottawa is an organization that is a direct support service for more than 340 not-for-profit and voluntary organizations in the community and a critical link between volunteer energy and community need through its promotion of volunteerism to individuals, groups, workplaces and schools.
