The stage is set and the gowns are ready: it’s Convocation time!
OTTAWA,
June 10, 2015 —
In the coming days, uOttawa students will be receiving a precious document that is the culmination of years of hard work: their diploma. Convocation is a time to celebrate an important milestone for students and their families. The University of Ottawa would like to congratulate the 8,131 students who will be receiving degrees and celebrate the journey that has brought them here. This Spring, 14 convocation ceremonies will take place between June 12 and June 16, 2015 in the beautiful Southam Hall at the National Arts Centre.
This year, these ceremonies will be live streamed. Visit the uOttawa YouTube Channel from June 12 to 16, 2015 to view the ceremonies and join in the celebration.
The University will also be conferring honorary doctorates on seven outstanding individuals who have distinguished themselves through their major contributions to the University, to their profession or to society. The recipients of these honorary doctorates are:

The Honourable Robert Décary: former judge of the Canadian Federal Court of Appeal

Jean-Marie De Koninck: Professor, Department of Mathematics, Université Laval and founder of Operation Red Nose

Danielle Juteau: Professor Emerita, Department of Sociology, Université de Montréal

Ian Telfer: Chairman of Goldcorp

Alberto Manguel: Writer

Sally Daub: Co-founder of ViXS System
- Marie Battiste: Mi'kmaw educator from the Potlotek First Nation and Professor at the University of Saskatchewan
The honorary doctorates will be conferred during the convocation ceremonies taking place from June 12 to June 16, 2015, with two to three ceremonies taking place each day (9:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.).
