MEDIA ADVISORY: Impacts of sporting events on the National Capital Region – A panel discussion
OTTAWA, June 4, 2015 — The University of Ottawa invites members of the media to an industry panel discussing the impacts of sports events on communities, and in particular on the National Capital Region, and the variables contributing to high turnouts. Panelists will discuss topics such as the changing realities of hosting sporting events, potential security issues and the economic benefits of such events.

Panelists include Mathieu Fleury, City of Ottawa councillor for Rideau-Vanier ward; Greg Stremlaw, CEO of the Canadian Curling Association and chair of the Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance Board of Directors; and Jeff Hunt, president of the Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group and owner of the Ottawa 67’s and Ottawa Redblacks.
This panel is part of the North American Society for Sport Management 2015 conference, the largest academic-based sport management conference in the world, attracting scholars, students and practitioners from every continent in the world.
