MEDIA ADVISORY: Faculty of Medicine to honour body donors at annual memorial service
OTTAWA,
June 1, 2015 —
Faculty members, medical students and staff will come together with families and friends of donors in a memorial service on June 2, 2015 to honour individuals who have donated their bodies to the Faculty of Medicine.
The service is held annually to recognize the immeasurable contributions made by body donors to the advancement of medical education. Keynote speakers at this year’s service include John Houston, who will speak in remembrance of his father, and Cathy Delany, whose mother and father were both donors.
WHAT: Annual Faculty of Medicine memorial service for body donors
WHEN: Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at 11 a.m.
WHERE: Pinecrest Remembrance Services, 2500 Baseline Road (east of Greenbank)
Body donors are persons who requested that their bodies be given to the Division of Clinical and Functional Anatomy at the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Medicine. The division’s Body Donation Program helps emphasize the educational importance of the human body in helping medical students, residents and practicing physicians gain greater knowledge of human anatomy and further develop their skills.
