Media Calendar — Special Edition: Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences (May 30 to June 5, 2015)
OTTAWA, May 28, 2015 — The University of Ottawa is hosting the 84th Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences, from May 30 to June 5. The event will attract over 8,000 academics, researchers and practitioners. This year’s theme, “Capital ideas,” focuses on the power of ideas to captivate our hearts and minds, to connect people and ignite discussion and debate, and to create knowledge and spark discovery. Here are some events taking place:
Sunday, May 31
- 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.: Making Change: Research, Policy, Practice (English with bilingual Q&A)
Monday, June 1
- 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.: When Data Meets the Soul of Culture (French and English)
Tuesday, June 2
- 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.: Citizenship, Governance and Democracy: Perspectives on and from Germany and Canada
- 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.: Global Shifts and Canada’s International Policy (English)
- 4 p.m.: The University of Ottawa Press: 80th anniversary
Wednesday, June 3
- 8:30 a.m. to noon: Technological Unemployment and the Future of Work (English)
- 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.: Promoting Children’s Rights and Resilience: An Interdisciplinary Perspective (French and English)
Thursday, June 4
- 9 a.m. to noon: Corporate Governance and Sustainable Development (French and English)
- 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.: Climate Change Policies for a Low Carbon Economy
