OTTAWA, May 25, 2015  —  The University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Health Sciences and the International Longevity Centre (ILC) Canada invite members of the media to the official launch of the first and only International Longevity Centre in Canada.

The Honourable Alice Wong, Minister of State (Seniors), will attend the launch. “It will be an honour to be present at the launch of the first and only International Longevity Centre in Canada. We recognize the need for innovation when it comes to improving the health and well-being of seniors. Social innovation succeeds by combining resources from governments, businesses, community organizations and academics to generate new ideas and tools that address social and health problems in new ways.”

The ILC is an internationally accredited policy organization and a member of a multinational consortium that focuses on the potential for members of societies to live longer, healthier lives.

International Longevity Centres are well-positioned to foster partnerships that contribute to knowledge creation and sharing about aging individuals and societies that could influence policy.  They advocate for the needs and rights of seniors by identifying ways in which they can lead healthy, fulfilling and active lives throughout their lifespan.

WHAT: Official launch of the International Longevity Centre (ILC) Canada
WHEN: Wednesday, May 27, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
WHERE: Tabaret Hall (Huguette Labelle Hall), 550 Cumberland Street.

Margaret Gillis, president of ILC Canada, and Hélène Perreault, dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, will be also in attendance and available for interviews.
