MEDIA ADVISORY: Assessing John Baird’s Tenure as Foreign Minister – A Panel Discussion
OTTAWA, February 9, 2015 — On February 3, John Baird announced his resignation as Foreign Minister. The Centre for International Policy Studies and the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs of the University of Ottawa invite members of the media to a panel discussion that will address the following questions: what legacy does he leave after four years in the post? What are some of his key achievements? Following his departure, is Canada positioned more or less strongly to pursue its foreign policy objectives?

The panelists are:
Peter Jones, Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, and a frequent commentator on security issues and the Middle East.
Colin Robertson , former Canadian diplomat, and a Senior Strategic Advisor with McKenna, Long and Aldridge, LLP. He is Vice-President and Fellow at the Canadian Defence and Foreign Affairs Institute and Executive Fellow at the University of Calgary’s School of Public Policy.
David Petrasek, Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, and formerly an international human rights lawyer with the UN and various international NGOs.
