During the event, a community-wide contest will be launched inviting participants to create a 3D printed hand prosthesis for a six-year-old boy, who will choose his favourite entry next March.
WHAT: Launch of Makerspace: a free DIY space to “invent-design-build”
WHERE: SITE Atrium (800 King Edward Avenue | MAP)
WHEN: Thursday, November 20, 2014. Tour and demos at 5:30 p.m., presentation and announcement at 6:00 p.m.
Makerspace has lots of 3D printers, CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines for precision cutting, machining, drilling and carving, and Arduino/Galileo boards to simplify the application of interactive objects or environments for hobbyists, students and professionals. Over 500 participants have taken part in 19 workshops at Makerspace since it opened this September.
