MEDIA ADVISORY: The University of Ottawa remembers

OTTAWA, November 10, 2014  —  On November 11, the University of Ottawa will hold its annual Remembrance Day ceremony to honour the men and women who have served Canada during times of war, conflict and peace.

WHAT:      Remembrance Day ceremony
WHEN:      Tuesday, November 11, at 9:30 a.m.
WHERE:    Morisset Terrace (at the front entrance of the library, 65 University, Ottawa | map)

David Blackburn, alumni and retired Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) officer specializing in social work, will speak during the ceremony. Dr. Blackburn held a variety of positions with the Canadian Armed Forces, including as program manager for the mental health education and training program at the CAF’s Directorate of Mental Health in Ottawa, and head of psychosocial and mental health services for the CAF in Germany. He deployed to Afghanistan in 2006 and Cyprus in 2012 before retiring as a major in June 2014.
