Fall Convocation: not the conventional but just as exciting!

OTTAWA, October 29, 2014  —  While the majority of students graduate in the spring, nearly 2,000 University of Ottawa students will be reaping the fruits of their labour this fall. Fall Convocation will also feature a higher proportion of master’s and PhD graduates than in the spring, as is the tradition.

This weekend, many graduates will be there to receive their diplomas in person, joined by the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, chancellor of the University of Ottawa, and Allan Rock, president and vice-chancellor.

The University will also confer honorary doctorates on three outstanding figures: Jay Hennick, founder and CEO of FirstService Corporation, Max Malacria,  a well-known and respected organic chemist, and Calin Rovinescu, president and CEO of Air Canada.

At each ceremony, a class president will have the honour of delivering a valedictory to fellow graduates. The title of class president is given to students who are committed to the community and have exemplary academic records.
