International rankings: The University of Ottawa confirms its standing among the world’s top universities

OTTAWA, October 1, 2014  —  The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, published today, has confirmed the University of Ottawa’s place among the world’s top universities.

For the fourth consecutive year, the University of Ottawa has been ranked among the top 200 universities worldwide, coming in at 188th overall. Only seven other Canadian universities were ranked among the top 200.

“Over the past few years, we have consolidated our position among the top tier of universities on a number of international rankings,” said University of Ottawa President Allan Rock. “We are proud of this achievement and we continue to strive towards improving the student experience, conducting innovative research, and developing international partnerships to maintain this enviable position.”

The Times Higher Education rankings were published one day after the inauguration of the University’s new Advanced Research Complex, whose highly specialized, one-of-a-kind facilities will be available to researchers from a range of disciplines, paving the way for Ottawa to become the epicentre of geoscience in Canada and the photonics capital of the world.
