MEDIA ADVISORY: Official designation of William Commanda Hall
OTTAWA, September 24, 2014 — The University of Ottawa invites the media to attend a ceremony celebrating the official designation of a building in honour of William Commanda.
Algonquin Elder from Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg, Maniwaki, Quebec, William Commanda (1913-2011) held the title as Supreme Chief of the North American Indian Nations Government and Carrier of the Algonquin Sacred Wampum Belts. Founder of the Circle of All Nations, he endeavored to bridge all cultures and was committed to sharing Algonquin Anishinabe knowledge with the world.
