MEDIA ADVISORY: 300 students gather for bilingualism

OTTAWA, April 30, 2014  —  On Friday, May 2, 300 French as a second language students from 11 Ottawa-area schools will gather at the University of Ottawa’s Jock Turcot University Centre for a day of activities focusing on the rich benefits of bilingualism, as part of a French for the Future Forum.

The Ottawa forum will feature various activities on the theme of “Sors ta langue de ta poche! ” including French-language workshops  on topics from yoga to working on a cruise ship in French, as well as a sugar shack style lunch, a concert by the band Improtéine and  a simulation of the TV game show La guerre des clans.

WHEN: Friday, May 2, 2014 (opening ceremony from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.)

The Ottawa forum is organized in collaboration with the University of Ottawa and its French Immersion Studies program.

Participating students will come from the following schools:

Holy Trinity Catholic High School
All Saints Catholic High School
St. Mark High School
Bell High School
St. Francis Xavier High School
Mother Theresa High School
St. Patrick’s High School
St. Pius X High School
St. Matthew High School
Rockland High School
