A time for University of Ottawa alumni to celebrate and wear their colours!
OTTAWA, April 22, 2014 — Alumni from the University of Ottawa will be the guests of honour during Alumni Week, from May 6 to 10, 2014. Inspiring lectures, campus visits, reunions, science demonstrations and a hip gala are just some of the activities for alumni where they can learn about fascinating topics, reconnect with classmates and celebrate their alma mater.
“Our alumni are the University’s proudest ambassadors. Their many successes promote our institution from one end of the country to the other, and all over the world,” says Louis de Melo, vice-president, External Relations, at the University of Ottawa and a proud uOttawa alumnus himself. “Alumni Week is our way of expressing our appreciation for our alumni, showcasing what they’ve accomplished and celebrating with them!”
Seminars with Kevin Page, the Canadian Olympic Team’s psychologist and truly inspiring researchers!
What are Canada’s economic and fiscal challenges? How do Olympic athletes reach such staggering heights of success? Can you make clothing from orange peels or other renewable resources? What issues are involved in food security? These are some of the fascinating topics that will be covered during lectures and discussion panels to give both alumni and members of the public the chance to quench their thirst for knowledge (minus the homework!).
May 9 proclaimed University of Ottawa Alumni Day by City of Ottawa
For the second year, the City of Ottawa would like to salute the over 80,000 alumni from the University of Ottawa who live and work in the region. Ottawa will honour their significant contributions by making Friday, May 9, 2014, University of Ottawa Alumni Day. We invite alumni to celebrate the day by wearing the University’s colours—garnet and grey—and by showing off their uOttawa pride on social media.
Michel Picard and Mary Lou Finlay will celebrate with alumni at Destination 2014
Destination 2014 is the highlight of Alumni Week. The evening will be hosted by uOttawa alumna and former CBC radio host Mary Lou Finlay and by recently retired Radio-Canada TV and radio host Michel Picard. Destination 2014 is a chance for alumni to celebrate with other uOttawa graduates, including the six winners of the 2014 Alumni Association Awards of Excellence. This festive evening will be the perfect opportunity for them to reconnect with friends, savour delicious food and dance the night away to the sounds of the George St. Kitts Band.
