MEDIA ADVISORY: The University of Ottawa remembers

OTTAWA, November 8, 2013  —  A Remembrance Day ceremony will take place on November 11 at the University of Ottawa to honour the men and women who have served Canada during times of war, conflict and peace.

WHAT:      Remembrance Day ceremony
WHEN:      Monday, November 11, at 9:30 a.m.
WHERE:    Front steps of Tabaret Hall, or in the event of inclement weather, in the Tabaret Hall Rotunda (550 Cumberland Street, Ottawa | map)

Brian Kells, an active member of the Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa, a reserve infantry regiment, will speak during the ceremony. Corporal Kells served as international development management fellow for the Aga Khan Foundation, resource mobilization officer for the Nancholi Youth Organization and civil-military cooperation technician for the Kandahar Provincial Reconstruction Team, before beginning his studies in common law at the University of Ottawa.

The University of Ottawa’s chief archivist, Michel Prévost, will also be on hand to showcase artifacts, photos and testimonials documenting the University community’s involvement in world conflicts throughout the years.
