MEDIA ADVISORY - Medical students mark entry into profession in White Coat Ceremony

OTTAWA, September 11, 2013  —  The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa will present 166 first-year medical students with their white coats in front of family and friends during the traditional White Coat Ceremony. This event is rife with tradition and symbolism for the medical world and the newly admitted students, as it marks their official entry into the profession.

When: Friday, September 13, 1 p.m.
Where: Hampton Inn, 100 Coventry Road

Dr. Jacques Bradwejn, dean, will preside over the ceremony, during which students from the incoming class will recite a Declaration of Professionalism as a symbol of their commitment to medicine as well as their own unique Professionalism Oath to distinguish their connection as the Class of 2017.
